Senior Chemical/Process Engineer

 Arbon is a pioneering climate tech startup dedicated to combating global warming through innovative carbon capture solutions. Located in Brooklyn, NY, we’re a rapidly growing team committed to developing scalable, sustainable technologies that address the climate change challenges.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Chemical/Process Engineer to lead the development and optimization of our carbon capture systems. This full-time role involves taking theoretical concepts and translating them into practical, scalable solutions. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in chemical engineering, process development, and system integration, with a proven track record of leading projects from concept to implementation in an industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and optimization of chemical processes for CO₂ capture using our humidity-swing carbon capture technology

Translate theoretical concepts into practical engineering solutions, ensuring scalability and efficiency

Utilize simulation software (e.g., Aspen) and programming tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for process modeling and analysis

Conduct techno-economic and life cycle analyses to assess the viability and sustainability of processes

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate process designs into overall system architecture

Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline; advanced degrees (Master’s or Ph.D.) are highly desirable.

Minimum of 7 years of industry experience in chemical process engineering, with a focus on process development and scale-up.

Strong proficiency in process simulation software and programming languages

Extensive knowledge of chemical reaction engineering, absorption processes, and system integration

Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation

Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept through implementation, including pilot and commercial-scale systems

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
